Heather Watkins has been immersed in the fields of exercise science, nutrition, and wellness since the late 1980s—an era defined by low-fat diets, excessive cardio, and overly restrictive approaches to weight management. Like many, she was initially trained in the traditional “eat less, move more” model, including highly restrictive calorie plans that often proved unsustainable.
Heather earned her Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Health & Wellness with a concentration in Exercise Science and has spent more than 25 years applying evidence-based strategies to support fat loss, strength development, metabolic health, and lifestyle transformation.
Her credentials include Certified Nutrition Specialist, NASM Nutrition Coach, and specialized expertise in GLP-1 support, emotional eating, and hormonal health.
Throughout her career, Heather has worked extensively with individuals who have experienced the full spectrum of dieting approaches—from chronic calorie restriction to high-volume cardio and all-or-nothing habits. Her focus is on helping clients transition away from these cycles and toward a more structured, sustainable approach that aligns with their physiology and lifestyle.

Dr. Thomas Lessaris, MD
Dr. Thomas Lessaris is a highly experienced internist with over 30 years in the medical field, dedicated to helping patients better understand their health from the inside out. As part of the Best Health Wellness team, Dr. Lessaris specializes in reviewing lab work, identifying key health markers, and providing personalized medical insights and recommendations to support optimal wellness.
He earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and is affiliated with Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. Dr. Lessaris is currently accepting new patients and offers both in-person and telehealth appointments, making care accessible and convenient.
Dr. Lessaris is passionate about delivering comprehensive, compassionate care and guiding individuals on their journey to becoming their healthiest, strongest selves. He takes a proactive approach, helping clients connect the dots between lab results, lifestyle, and long-term health outcomes.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Lessaris leads a very active lifestyle and enjoys yard work, exercising, golfing, and skiing.

Things are going great—I lost another few pounds this week, and I can start to see that I'm losing weight in my arms and legs.
I've even had a few people ask me if I've lost weight, which is always nice to hear! :)
I am actually really enjoying all the foods and I'm trying new things. I tried barley for the first time this week, and I think I actually like it more than brown rice. It's really filling and quite delicious.
I did the 1750-calorie plan on Monday when I cycled. It was awesome, and I had a ton of energy! The rest of the week, I did the 1500, and the only day I’ve been hungry was today for some reason.
BTW—the recipes are so delicious too! The lamb shanks were very tasty, and the mussels were another nice treat!
